So what are we
into..... Camping and hot springing are two outdoors activities that we enjoy greatly. We had lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for most of our lives and enjoyed several natural features there. Several hot springs were available. A particularly pleasant spot was located in the middle of a vast open range. In the middle of nowhere, a hole of clear blue hot water steamed through the day and night. About twelve feet deep, the bottom could be seen but not reached. It was rumored that caverns extended beyond view and that divers had actually gone deeper into the spring but were caught in the caverns (true? who knows!) We have gone to two other springs here in Arizona, both with their own natural beauty. On of these is El Dorado Hot Springs located in Tonopah just 40 minutes West of Phoenix. A resort built to utilize natural hot water, El Dorado has to date five tubs for lounging under the starlight. There is also a great amount of space available for camping. Imagine hot water, fire light, Dutch oven cooking...ummmm. (To see more of El Dorado go here)

The other is located near the Verde River nested West of the town of Strawberry. Found at the end of a 12 mile dirt road, nestled against the Verde River are two small tubs left behind from a resort that once existed there. The road is a bit rough at times, depending on current weather history, and the final descent is quite a heart stopper. Camping is available near the river and the hot springs are accessible by a 1/2 to a 3/4 mile depending on the route. A nearby power generating plant provides rapid inflow which creates great natural showers and a highly bubbly Jacuzzi (but on the cold side). |
We are also into hanging out in a manner which I refer to as "coffee style". I myself achieved a minor in chemistry within the walls of a coffee shop. Conversation and concentration seems to be enhanced by a great cup of coffee and environment. We also enjoy music to a great extent which is reflected in the two web sites that we run. We started Site 51 Productions, a music production company, about three years ago. Within the last year, we started http://www.site51.com as an internet springboard of promotion. We host bands and spotlight independent musicians from around the nation and even the world (just one so far though). We also are the web architects for Link for Musicians magazine out of Tempe. That started as a trade job but became more personal as we have progressed into more and more issues. |
